Infinity componants

I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. I am looking at Infinity 605cs speakers for the front doors. I'm going to leave the back doors stock and change to the Alpine 7892 head unit. Will the Infinitys fit, and how will they sound without an amp. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Even though the Alpine HU's have a pretty high output (I have a 7893), I would highly suggest getting an amp for the component speakers. I have the Kappa 572.5cf's in my truck and they sounded sooooooo much better after hooking them up to an amp. Not saying that they won't run directly off of the HU, but just a recommendation.

As far as fit, a few people on here have retrofit a 6.5" speaker into the factory holes - you will have to make an adapter plate to cover the factory hole and mount the different shaped speaker in. I attempted this with a two-way Alpine speaker, but never got it to fit because it was either sitting too deep and hitting the window inside the door or it was sticking out to where the tweeter was up against the backside of the door panel. With the tweeter being separate, you should not have any trouble.

According to Crutchfield the Kappa's should fit in the doors. Though you will need to either make a custom panel or purchase an adaptor plate for the. Check out www.sounddomain.com or a local custom stereo shop should have a set you could buy.

Great choice with the Kappa's. I have always been impressed with their SQ. I too reccomend having a good amp push them. Give them at least 50 watts if you really want to get the most out of them.

Even though head units state they will push "X" watts per channel, it is generally not enough to make most component speakers sound their best.

I installed a US Acoustics amp on my friends truck to run a pair of Boston Acoustics and they sounded great. You can get a 50X2 for $80 or a 80watt per channel amp for $100.00. There are also a boat load of amps out there that will do the job without branking the bank.

Good luck and enjoy your new Kappa's
