There are subsitute materials that cost much much less because they aren't name brand.

One such substitute is RAAMat.. I haven't actually used this material but have heard good things on other message boards.

Get it at www.raamaudio.com

Price comparison of RAAMat60 $99 for 62.5 sq. ft. to Dynamat Xtreme $229 (crutchfield price) for 39 sq. ft.

Just wanted to throw that out there as info for ya. Not trying to advertise by any means.

Dynamat is not worth the money they charge, but substitutes are. McMaster has some pretty cheap, as well as Parts Express. I just use roofing underlayment from my local home improvement store. $25 for 100sq feet.

The general question...Is it worth it...I think it was. I had my local shop Dynamat all 4 doors and it sounds 1000 times better. A buddy of mine went to a special dynamat "school" type earning session and they showed him how adding dynamat can add 3db by itself. To add that any other way you usually have to double your power. Go for it...either dynamat or the offbrand it is all the same.

I agree with TEK2000, I put 2 layers(RAAMat60) down in mine on the doors, floor and back wall. It made a major difference in stereo sound as well as general quiteness. Bass and highs sound so much clearer and the sound in general is much improved. I was lucky enough to get in on a group buy on the RAAMat60 and the price was almost as cheap for 2 rolls of this as to 1 roll of B-Quite brown bread and a lot cheaper than Dynamat. Its gone through hot temps and all in the past few months and the stuff is still on like day 1. Best part was the smell was gone after a day.
It takes a bit of time to put on right but I was lucky enough to have the interior gutted out for a week and 2 weeks of vacation to do it. Although you could do it in a day("couple hrs") for the doors no problem
