Fiberglass Spray On Resin??
I am going to have to build the box for my subs in the back, and I have a link here where a guy (chuckiii) build a custom box. He streched the Cloth out and then sprayed it with something.. I was guessing it was a fiberglass Resin spray.. But I don't know where to find/buy this type of stuff.
And, I was wondering what type of cloth i should use, and the type and thickness of the wood.
any help would be great.
here's the link to that guys Sub box, and the spray stuff....

You can pick up everything you need at Home Depot or a hardware store. It's pretty easy to do, but time consuming. You can use cotton (old t-shirts) as the fabric and should make the finished product at least 1/4" thick, thicker for really high-powered subs.
Lay the glass in layers of resin/hardener mix and fiberglass cloth over the cotton to get the desired thickness. When you're happy with it and it's dry, fill rough spots with bondo and sand smooth.
Use the standard 3/4" MDF for the wood portion of the box. If you just need something temporary to hold the shape under the 'glass, use some lattice stripping or other thin wood material, covered in aluminum foil sprayed with WD-40, and make it so it will break away. When the 'glass is dry, just break out the thin wood and pull it out of the speaker hole.
Good Luck and keep us posted!

Can I use bondo on the entire thing though, just applying like 2 or 3 layers of it? Because at that Site,,, Selectproducts.com or whatever it is, I need to by the 20$ resin and 45$ hardener. Anyways, they also sell a nice mold cloth for 14$ that I'll probably use. I'm gonna just keep it on the 3/4" mdf board.
I'll take bits as the process goes. I think I'm gonna get 2 12" Comp Vr's witha 600 Watt Rockford Fosgate Amp, or Kicker Amp. NOt sure yet. Are the comp Vr's nice speakers? I am kinda debating on some Kicker L5's as well, and I haven't thrown the idea away of some Rockford Fosgate He2's..
Well thanks again,
Jd

I think you will need to use the 'glass to get the strength and durability. The bondo just gives you something to get a smooth finish.
Check with you local hardware or home center. You should be able to beat those prices on the resin and hardener.
