They are good speakers. You don't have to have an amp...but if you do they will perform better. Do you have the factory HU or do you have aftermarket?

Check out http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=piotsa6867 they are A LOT cheaper than Crutchfield.

They are "good" speakers, but personally would get some infinity speakers or polkaudio speakers for around the same price.

Anything is better than stock and for the price those speakers are excellent. You will here the different even with your stock HU. Amp them and you be happy as a pig in sh%$. The kappa do handle more power, but if your looking for a great speaker at a great price go with those pioneer. the quality is not that different.
