Thanks. Now you know that 1997-2003 models are all the same size, 6x8".

Yes, but Ford has been using 6x8 speakers in almost every vehicle for at least 10 years now. Its a pretty well known thing.

Don't pay attention to Madd's post....there are a lot of people who don't know the size of the factory speakers, etc. That is what this forum is for. I spend a lot of time answering peoples questions (doesn't matter how simple) so they don't waste their time/money.

Thanks, sdf150guy.

I am replacing speakers in my '02 for the first time and was looking around to make sure I dropped $150 on the right set. Crutchfield's site told me just about every set they had fit my truck.

Well yea any size speaker from a 6x8 down will fit in with an adapter so crutchfield isn't really wrong in that, but of course the 6x8 will be better than a smaller coaxial speaker. Component speakers of course is a different story.

Which ones did you end up choosing?

I never thought about it like that. I guess my mind was still wrapped around my old F-150's speaker size (only 6" round fit in the doors.)

Haven't ordered them yet, but I'll just go with 6x8 ones most likely.

Thanks!

not to thread jack but can you cram 6 1/2 inch speaker in the doors? I'm going to be getting a set of Polk db component speakers.

With some minor trimming you can. And you'll probably have to drill new mounting holes, but it'd be no more than like 5 minutes of extra work to do the install.
