I here allot of good things about the TS-A6867, they are supposed to have a good amount of bass and the highs are good. This is just here say, I am also in the process of upgrading my system and would like to know what speakers are the best. I am not competng so reasonable price compared to good quality.

What do you know about audiobahn speakers?

i would recomend a 6½ to 8 in the dorr for midbass with nothing in the back. so just get a 3 way comp set and put the midrange and highs in the kicks and the midbass in the doors...

Kick Pannels....

well whne you move the rfs to the kicks or whatever you put there i would put a midbass in the door ... it will help raise you soundstage. also i wouldnt put speaker in the back unless you plan on using them as true rear fill because they can take away from the sound up front if used other wise. if your going with kicks im assuming that you want a good sound stage and if you must put speakers in the back i would recomend a good midrage for rear fill...but i guess if you a crewcab then you want speakers in the abck for the other peepl...well id get a good set of coax. maybe focals new access line...and put a switch on them to turn them on and off so that way when you dont need em on you dont have to have them on.

Kick panels do not hold 6.5 speakers to my knowledge. I can also see why they are named kick panels, lots of people getting in and out kicking the speaker. Plus $150.00 without the speakers.Ouch

no one has ever kicked mine...they arent really in a stop that gets kicks they are kinda out of the way...unless you just have some ******* friend who is trying to kick them...also 150 for kicks that are 'angled' for you car and matched to fit isnt reall that much concidering custom kicks would cost 300+ bucks

Results just 12 hours away! With some very helpful feedback from this forum, along with some research and recomendations from the shop installing my system.....
Focal Utopia 165W3's up front and simple set of JL Audio XR570's for the rear.
I was going with the JL-XR653-CS up front, but several strong recomendations to try the Focal sent me in that direction. Also concerning kick's - Just one mans opinion (my installer) said he would do kicks if I wanted them but recomended not..... and we are doing all three components in the doors. Mid & Woofer in place of the stock speakers and tweets just above to the left. Was also thinking about putting the tweets in the A-pillars though I was concerned the drivers side would get in the way of my pod gauge I'm putting on the A-pillar there. He also felt there may be too much seperation for correct imaging. I know alot of people use the kicks for install of 3 way comps - I will pick up toning and find out if I made the right decision!
They are also doing a vehicle with the Focal 165V3's so I will get a chance to here the difference and see if the $$ were woth it. With such a huge difference there better be!
The rears may be a bit of "over kill" but I will also have the ability to switch them off when no one is in the back (supercrew).
I have been with out my truck since Monday, can't wait to get it back let alone here the results!

If you were listening to straight factory radio before your system was installed... YOU'LL BE BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!!!

I promise you.. you'll be riding for months and still be amazed at how clear and awesome everything sounds. Right down to hearing the pick hit the guitar strings.

The only thing you'll be lacking is the low end. IF IT WERE ME.. I would want a 10" sub (at least) to match up with all your equipment.

If you've got a Pionner HU, you could just use the FIE function to low-pass the rear speakers at like 160 or 250Hz. My rear speakers are full-range but my front Comps are so much louder than the rear that all the sound still comes from up front.

Your right - Guess I should have mentioned the rest of the set up:
JL 12W3 in stealthbox rear console
JL 500-5 amp
Kenwood 911 w/nav unit
Headrest monitors for the back

Still no truck though!- tomorrow by noon. This is killing me but when I went to look at this afternoon it looked like there were pieces everwhere so I don't want to rush these guy's. I've seen some of their installs and they are fantastic so I don't want to mees it up by rushing them.

Sounds good man. Just a question though.. what made you decide to go with the JL Audio Stealthbox? Those things are at least $500 bucks. Again IF IT WERE ME.. I'd have the shop custom build me a box and pick the sub I wanted. It would probably cost a bit less too... plus you've got you're own custom built box.. not a box that "everyone" else has. But that's just me.. its your system and I'm not trying to talk down on it.

Be sure and create a gallery when its all done so we can all at least see it. Seeing it is nothing compared to hearing it.. but it'll have to do.

I went with the JL stealth box due to a couple of things -
Orig they were only going to build it with a 10WO, but they ended up using a 12W3, decent sub.
Weather stealth box or not, the best (about the only) place to put the sub was in the rear console. No room behind the seats (besides, thats where the amp, crossovers & 911 "brain" went) and due to the way the rear buckets are designed on the HD edition couldn't effectively put under the rear seats.
So they would have had to build it in the rear console anyway. While I wanted an excellent sound quality system I also wanted a total "stealth" install. They said it would actually cost me more for them to build the existing console into a sub enclosure than to just use the JL box.
According to JL a 12W7 will also fit the box, so i figure if the 12W3 is not enough I can always upgrade to the W7.
