I just ordered some Kappas from crutchfield and was wondering how installation is...will they fit alright cause they say 5X7/6X8? Any hints would be greatly appreciated...

Should drop right in. You may want to use some gasketing tape for a better seal around the speaker.

not sure about the rest of you, but I had to drill a few holes because not all of the speakers mounts lined up with the factory holes. Other than that, they went in just fine. One word of advice though, these speakers sound much better hooked up to an amp rather than running them directly off of the head unit. RMS for these speakers is 100watts, so they really need some power to wake them up. Good luck with install!!

Dropped right in the front...no problems

I installed in the front doors with no problems...holes lined up perfectly....I used 10x10 dynamat too. I mounted the crossover under the factory sound dead material just behind the door pull and below the window/door lock controls...there is a nice little pocket there that does not interfere with the crossover...I used double sided mounting tape rated for 5lbs and then a strip of duct tape over the crossover to keep the cover from being jarred off. I first clipped off the factory speaker connector and tied the crossover input to speaker wire with crimp connectors and then wrapped in electrical tape. then I ran the crossover out the square hole that the window contol wires come out the door below (and towards the front of truck) the speaker hole. Mount the crossover to the door skin with the tape in the location I described above. Next run the crossover output wires back into the door using the hole above the speaker hole (and towards the back of the truck). I bundled the speaker inputs and taped the excess to the door just above the crossover so that I had just enough length to hook to speaker and not have excess to catch the window track. Finally, screw the speaker to the original mounting holes, replace the factory sound material and door panel. They sound great with factory unit even without an amp...I had several F150 owners notice the difference right away without even letting on that I had replaced them.

Let me clarify myself - you do not HAVE to have an amp to run these, I was just stating that once I added an amp, they sounded much better because they are built to handle a lot of power.

Huh, wonder why I had to drill - I hate it when I don't hit the holes!!!

My Infinity's did'nt line up with the factory holes either. I also had to drill two holes in each door. Good move on the Dynamat. It makes a big difference.

Dynamat is a sound deadening material.

I am currently not using dynamat with mine and don't have any rattles. However, I do plan on using a sound deadening material (not Dynamat because it is too damn expensive) on the entire door panels just to reduce some interior noise. The amp I have hooked up to mine is a Kenwood PS150, with 75 watts RMS per channel.
