Infinity Perfect 10" Subs
Infinity Perfect 10" Subs
I ordered a 10" Infinity Perfect subwoofer. It comes in a truck-style carpeted box for $249.95. The amp I ordered is a Sony Xplod 1000 watt mono amp for $299.95. Is this a pretty good deal? I have'nt recieved my amp or sub yet. So I'm wondering what to expect with this sub/amp combo? Will one 10" sub x 1000 watts be enough for a reg. cab? I hope it hits hard enough to make me go numb and re-arrange my organs, if you know what I mean! Sorry, I'm just gettin' a little excited!
That Sony amplifier will probably do about 400-500 watts rms, which will push that infinity perfect pretty well, but keep in mind that you can easily fry that sub with distortion from your amp if you turn up the gains to high, if you set the gains correctly you SHOULD be fine. The newer infinity perfect subs aren't made like they used to make them about 3 years ago, so you can't go by past real life tests where these subs could handle 600 watts continuously, they just aren't as tough as they used to be, but they are still very good subs, it's just that they now should be powered exactly as they are rated.
I would definitely cancel your order for the Sony amp...
1. They are garbage.
2. You are paying too much.
For $300 you can do a whole lot better. If you would like some recommendations let me know.

I "WAS" getting a Polk MOMO sub until I did a little shopping around and found the Infinity Perfect. It came in a FREE Q-logic truck box that would fit behind my seat with no problems. So I ordered it. I also ordered a Sony xplod 1000 watt amp. After doing some searching, I found out that the Infinity is an excellent subwoofer, but the Sony xplod amp is'nt all it's cracked up to be. Then I came back to read my thread and saw where you typed that I was paying to much for the amp, and the amp is a piece of garbage. And yes, that sounds about right. And from the reviews I've read on sony amps, your about right on the money. That got me thinkin' twice about it, so I canceled my order on the Xplod amp. I am now looking at the Rockford Fosgate Power Series(power350S 2ch. amp. That can be bridged to 350 watts rms mono. The max rms on the Inny Perfect sub is exactly 350 watts rms. So that's the one I'm thinking about getting now. I hear that they are good amps, but I don't know that much about them. That's why I need to start asking about stuff on here Before I Order it! He,he. Is there anything to watch out for when wiring amps? I know to keep the gain level down. Thanks for that info. Anything else I should know?
When installing your amp you have to wire it to the correct ohm load to get the power needed. Good move on canceling the Sony amp order. Personally I don't like the RF amps, I think they are too expensive. You can do much better with the same amount of money (see my other post with amp recommendations).

What's up with Rockford? What's the matter with RF? The power series has a 3-year warranty, has just as much power and clarity as other high end amps if not more. I found this amp(RF 350S) in Crutchfield catalog rated at 350 watts rms for $300. That's just the amount of wattage I need because the Infinity Perfect 10" is rated at 350 watts rms. And I'm paying less than $1 per watt. This just sounds like a good deal to me. Thanks for all the info and suggestions.
Well, it's new to me because I've never owned any other kind of amp but a Kraco 140 2ch. So you could say it'll be a step up for me. Something old to one person may be something new to another. Word from the wise...
