Angry Stereo changes volume and power steering issue

2002 F-150 5.4L with 5000 mi. is having 2 problems. The volume on the stereo/6 disc CD player changes it's volume between idle and cruise. When you start the vehicle and adjust the volume, it will then increase as the speed increases. Also having a problem with power steering sometimes at low rpm. Power steering seems to go out as you manuever into a parking spot at low r.p.m. Any ideas?

Normal operation on the stereo. It is speed sensitive (no, I'm not kidding .. look at your owners manual). My volume increases at about 40MPH, as does my intermitted wiper interval getting shorter.

The power steering problems almost sounds as if the engine idle rpm is too low, should be around 750 to 800 rpm.

The stereo volume changing constantly as you drive through the city from stop light to stop light is driving me nuts!! Is there a way to disable this rediculous function?
Thanks

Don't know about your 2002, but my 2000 Lariat, if I remember correctly, you press and hold the volume control **** for about 3 to 4 seconds until a speed compensation number appears on the display (I think default is 3). Then use the arrow buttons (select) on the right side to decrease the number to zero which disables the speed compensation circuitry.

Hope I got it right. If not, send me an e-mail at larry.pierotti@stjude.org, and I'll run out (actually walk) out to my truck, grab the owners manual and see where I messed up.

Press and hold the volume power button for about 4 seconds. It comes up with a screen saying the volume setting. Use the ^ V arrows on the select rocker button to go down to zero/off. Press the volume **** again and the setting is stored.

I have mine set on 1 or 2 - I actually like the feature.
