6.5" Adapter Plate

For those of you that have installed 6.5" speakers in your front doors and have adapter plates, what thickness of wood was used for these?? I have a pair of Alpines on the way and want to go ahead and make the plates without having to tear the door down more than once. Thanks in advance.

Here is the my website for the speaker install. They used thin wood, maybe 1/4"-3/8". Overall, that part was rather easy.

You can also buy some ABS plastic adapter plates at http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOSA68 They work very well and are easy to use.

Thanks guys - I went ahead and ordered a set of adapters. For $8, I figured I would try them out or if anything, use them as a pattern to make my own - only reason I would do this is it states for 6.5 inch speakers you might have to cut the adapter and/ or the factory hole - I will make my own to avoid cutting into the door.

My doors did not have to be cut at all, thank god. I thoughtthe insall would be much harder than it actually was, that is why I had a local shop do it.
