Question Box Dimensions

If you find out, let me know. I am looking for the same info. I was considering one of their 12" downfire enclosures for the F150 S/C , but the airspace is only .75 cubic feet. The 12" Rockford Fosgate RFD2112 recommend 1.25 with a minimum of .8. Once you count the speaker displacement (362 cu in.) it is not even close. If I want that size speaker, it looks like I am going to have to put one of the lift kits on the back seat & build my own box. I would much rather have one of theirs, because I really don't want to spend all the time building it myself, but oh well.

I'm working on an Autocad drawing now (which I'll convert to JPEG). I'm in the process of breaking out all the separate pieces with dimensions. It may be Friday before I can finish it....so if you haven't heard from me by then, shoot me an email @ branwright@comcast.net

Cool that way i can show the local shop up since they said " That's impossible it will never work" then he tried to tell me that the w3 and w6 had the same mounting depth then i proved him wrong and he was like i dont think they make the JL w6 anymore so whats one more time of proving him wrong? =]

Thanks again

The mounting depth will be at least 5 1/4"....and the box is designed to work with the existing seat level (2002 model).

I would like to use 12"s, but the box would stick out from under the seat too much for me (my box will probably be about 14" deep). I'd really like a forward fire box, but there's just not enough room without moving the seat up.

No problem (I was going to do it anyhow). I'm designing it for 3/4" MDF.

Yeah, I am probably relegated to using 10s as well, which beats the heck out of nothing, which I currently have. But it is interesting that the subbox.net enclosure looks like it uses 12s without sticking out at all. Do you already know how many cubic feet per driver your plans will provide? By the way, that is very cool that you are doing those plans! Please send them my way if you would. austdan@hotmail.com

I don't see how anyone can fit 12" under the seat without the box sticking out some....I need to do some additional measuring I haven't figured the cubes yet, but it will be quite a bit smaller than the boxes that require raising the seat.

I'd like to mass produce boxes, but I just don't have the time nor resources (heck, I can't find the time to build my own). There's money to be made, but by the time you ship a large, heavy sub box, the cost to the consumer gets too high.

yeah I saw that 12" box- the volume of the enclosures is .75 cu-ft, which is not very big for a 12" driver -considering that a decent 12" takes at least double that. Trust me- two 10's with a killer amp is enough to shake your fillings loose... besides IMHO 2-12's is too much for a sCab unless you're competing, in which case you'd want to remove the back seat anyhow.

just my $.02 worth

I think that 2 JL 10w6's under the back seat powered by a JL 500/1 with XR570-CS's in the doors powered by a JL 300/4 would sound great but again thats me. Oh yea for all those that read this that have a where do i put my jack problem i have an idea of where i will put mine out of the way since i am doing the expy console mod i think i can stick the jack in the bottom and build a false bottom on it to cover the jack. I think this will work when im done there will be pics of everything
