Question A little extra BASS

I'm looking to add a little extra bass to my sound system. I already have a Kenwood KDC-316S cd-reciever and a set of Infinity Reference 5x7's in my doors. The detail and clarity is excellent considering I've Dynamatted the doors. Anyways, I was looking through a Crutchfeild catalog tonight, And ran across a pretty good deal on a Bazooka bass tube. 8" amplified(100 watts max.) I don't have enough room for a huge box or amp behind my seat. So I was wondering if this would be a good choice. Does anyone have an 8" amplified Bazooka? If you do, please tell me what you think of it. And does it put out alot of bass???

Post sub(s)

There is enough space behind the seats for a good sized box that can fit 10's or even 12's. There is enough space under the the drivers seat to mount a decent sized amp, under the passenger seat has just as much space if you remove the jack. Depending on your skills it shouldn't be to hard to to make a box that fits right between the plastic panels behind the seats. I built my box so that it fit right between the plastivc panels and right under the bar that runs across the back of he cab. If you don't want to build any thing mtx makes a box that holds 10's and will drop right in. If you're concerned about space then get a bass tube.

If you want to build the box here are the dimensions.

Top(B1) = 6.5
Bottom(B2) = 9.25
Height = 14
Length = 41.5

measurements are in inches

Hope I helped, if you have any other questions email me at

I'm not to good at box building. But hey, I might give it a try. Or buy an already made box. Thanks for the info.

I would still like opinions on a Bazooka Bass Tube. The real question here is: Do they make sufficient bass? And is it good enough for a non-amplified system?(meaning the front speakers are not amped.) Thanx for any help.

for a nonamplified system 1 or 2 8 inch bass tubes should provide enough bass and probly not so much at moderate volume levels as not to drown out the front speakers.

I wanted to put a 10" amplified bazooka behind my seat. But I'm thinking it's not going to fit. So I'll problably end up going with the 8" amplified version. Does anyone know if the 10" will fit? I saw a post that username: PKRWUD posted about an 8" amplified bazooka a long time ago, but I can't seem to find it. PKRWUD, if your out there give me a shout.

Why not get the dimensions from crutchfield and measure your room behind the cab? You will have your answer sooner than waiting for another user to do the same thing or maybe you will luck out and someone will have done this. I am sure you are hoping someone has done it already. (I know I would) but if you get out there yourself you will no much sooner it appears. Good Luck!

Hi Peacemaker, going back a few years I tried the Bazooka tube and didn't like it at all. No real bass, just a grumble. On my truck I put in the the JL Audio stealth box. It fits underneath your stock console and gives great bass. Only thing is that you have to supply a seperate amp for the power.

Bought mine from a local car audio place. It was a demo but never hooked up so I got a good deal. I liked the idea of the stealth box because it's hidden from view and allows the back seat to still be folded down. In case your wondering, retail was somewhere around $500 and it cost me $325.

Hey RayCee. I was looking at JL Audio's website, and they have nothing listed for a 01' standard cab with 5/speed. I guess I'll have to go another route. Maybe an Infinity Basslink or something.
