6.5 vs 5.5 Components

I am in the hunt for replacement speakers for my 02 SCrew. Limited selection to listen to in town...but I listened to 6.5" components in Boston Acoustics, and MB Quart, and 5.5" Alpine. The Boston Acoustics, and MB Quart sounded very good, and a lot alike. The smaller Alpine did not have as much bass, but was amazingly accurate in the treble and midrange with little to no coloration. (also most expensive) The salesman said he actually preferred the sound of the 5.5 over the 6.5 but was a matter of taste. I do not have the opportunity to listen to the 6.5 Alpines. Do any of you prefer the sound of 5.5 components over the 6.5?

"Bigger" is very definately NOT necessarily "better". I was going to buy 6.5 JL Audio components until I heard the DiamondAudio Motorsport 5.25 components. Wow! What a difference. It wasn't even a contest, and JL is certainly no piker when it comes to making speakers! The DA's are extremely clear and musical. They are worth the search. I picked up a deal on mine, as the dealer was discontinuing my particular model in order to bring in the more expensive kevlar Hex line of DA's. The DA's -- all components, for that matter -- do require power to sound their best. I power mine with a Kicker Impulse 55W amp. That's more than enough. My HU powers my rear door speakers. A separate RockyFoz 300a powers the JL Audio Stealthbox in my center console. I've got extremely tight sound, a well-balanced bottom end that can kick if I want to, and a wonderful overall brilliance and clarity. Stevie Ray never sounded so good.
