final questions
final questions
Just a few final questions...
1) what is the factory front speaker size?? a 6x8??
2) do the Lightnings come with the "premuim sound" standard from the factory??
3) with components, where did you put the cross overs??
4) will a 5.25" fit right in the front door??
It is pretty much down to the MB Quart's, JL's, or Focal's. Most likely going with components since I am hoping not to add an amp and still may not add a new HU.
I am still pricing and comparing the final 3.
Thanks for all the help!!!!!!

1. All four factory speakers in the Lightning are 6x8". The might also be called 5x7's. I think other than minor cone geometry issues, the 5x7 and 6x8 are the same speaker. The mounting holes are in the same location.
2. "Premium Sound". Heheh. Yeah, that's what it says on my L window sticker. It's all relative. I guess it sounds OK enough, but I've had MUCH better in lesser car. (I once had a $1500 system in a Ford Festiva!
) Once the weather breaks for good I'll be doing something similar with my L.
3. Wherever you can. If the crossovers are in hard plastic cases, you can wrap them in some foam and zip-tie them somewhere. Otherwise, some of that great 3M super stick double sided foam tape would probably keep in in place.
4. Dunno. I don't see why not. I imagine you'll need to buy some Scosche adapter plates or drill some new holes.
