Dissapointed With Polk DX-7'S
I just installed Polk DX-7's in my Lightning and unbelievably I think the factory speakers may have sounded better. Is it because they are power hungry and maybe I need to add an amp?
I'll be installing 4 of the DX-7's in my Scab tomorrow. I will have a MTX 6304 powering them though. I'll let you know how they sound when they're amped.

I thought the same thing after installing my Blau's....give it a few days. I'm not sure if the speakers get broke in after a little time, or your ears just get used to it, but mine sounded alot better than stock especially on the high notes.
You really should amp them. It'll help to clean up the sount A LOT, in addition to driving them with more power. I'm installing a set tomorrow with an MTX RT2120, which is like a 35x2. Because i don't have my kick panels in yet, the fronts'll be disconnected so I'll get to see how they sound...
Letting them stay in for a few days will help - don't crank them up though - all speakers, especially Polks, need some break in time. I ran my DX 12" sub for sixty hours running different tone sequences through it.....worked wonders......
Amping those speakers will definatly help though - like everyone else said - it will clean them up a lot - and the DXs are power hungry......

Aww darn, I forgot about the whole break in time rule...
Anyway, just finished installing a pair in my rear doors, (s-Cab) and here's my consensus
They are amazingly detailed. Everything sounds so clear and clean it's very nice for a coax. However, i did find the speaker to be lacking in Bass, I was kinda surprised. I'll give it a while , I'm sure it'll kick in eventually. Not like I'm worried, I'll have two 10" subs monday!
I'm running them off of a MTX RT2152, which I believe is putting around 35 watts per channel.
