amp recomendations

hello all

I'm just about to order the dual down firing sub box that holds two tens from subbox.net for my 97 f-150 ext. cab. I'm going to use two mtx 600s 10's. there rated at 250 rms each, 500 peak each. what amp would you guys recommend. How would these subs sound? Im guessing the two subs will be wired in the box in paarell for a two ohm load. correct? I dont know alot about this stuff. How would I wire the box to the amp. Bridged? I hope this dosent sound like a bumb question.

thanks

mikef

Each speaker has it's own set of terminals on the box. This means you can run it to a 2 channel amp - one sub per channel, or you could either run the 2 subs in series for an 8 ohm mono load or parallel for a 2 ohm mono load. For these mono loads, you could use a monoblock (1 channel amp) or a stereo amp in bridged mode. With MTX subs, why not use MTX amps??? I know MTX makes a couple monoblock amps....amount of power dependant on amount willing to spend...

If you decide to use MTX amp, I would recommend the 4250d. Though its only rated for 250w@2ohm, actual is closer to 400. The MTX6500D is too much for those subs. its actual output is in the neighborhood of 750w. Also check out jbl300.1. Can be found online for a great price. classd amps are more efficient than class ab and throw off less heat. another great amp with a very small footprint is Memphis

Question

I'm planning on buying the same box and putting two MTX 6404s in it. (2001 F-150 4x4 OffR Extended cab)

Problem is where to store the amp.

I don't want to raise the seat any, since I have close to no headroom back there as it is.

I'm assuming that it's not good to bridge a 2 channel amp to two subs, although I did it successfully for 5 years in my 94 Ranger. Working on that assumption, most of the amps I find that will put out 250x2 bridged are seventeen freaking inches wide. Is this a faulty assumption I'm making that bridging an amp like that is no good? I'm planning on trying it anyway with the new subs since I'm going to continue to use the PA1002 if I can, at least for a while. I can fit this easily under the seat, but if for some reason I have to get a 4 channel amp I can bridge to those MTXs, I'm SOL.

On a side note, I was also using the line outs on my old Sony HU as well as the amped output (line outs went to the sub, amped output to the stock speakers with the bass turned all the way down). Was this bad? I oringinally had a 25x4 amp for the mid/highs but lost it along the way, and was broke.
