Need help with 6.5" woofers for my doors.

Hey everyone. I just ordered a set of the focal 165 V3 components and kick panels for the midbass and tweeter to go in. Anyway, I know it's been done but I need some help. How do I get those 6.5" woofers in the doors? I know it's going to take some cutting, etc. I remember a while back, someone had all the pics up and instructions and everything, anyone have that link?

Thanks alot, eagerly awaiting my new system...

I had Momo 6.5" installed by pro's. I did not feel comfortable cutting the doors on my L.
I had 5.25's in previously and the 6.5's have much better base

Good Luck

Is that what they did then, cut the doors? I've heard of people going that route but it seems like there was another way. Either way, I don't suppose you have any pictures of the install?
Thanks

I have MBQuart 6.5" woofers in the doors. No cutting was required (by the installer)... mounted the woofers to MDF, which provided enough spacing.

Awesome, that's what I'm looking for. Thing is, I need to make the spacers, do you know, or could you possibly find out what size of MDF was used?

1/4" MDF, the speaker is mounted to the top of the MDF.

BJays Red 150,

Sorry for late reply........
Yes, there was no other way to get the Polk Momo 465's in without trimming the door a bit and using a .5" plate.
Each speaker is different, so you may find one that don't require a trim.

The Momo 6.5's put out way more bass than the 5.25's which I had in before. I don't like hearing the sub's that much when I'm listening to the stereo at lower levels, so I send more lower freq.
to the comp's ....just my pref.
