component speakers anyone??
Has anyone added component speakers to a regular cab?? I am curious if the small tweeter install was as easy as it seems to be, where the crossovers were mounted, and is the wiring a nightmare.
After doing some research on speakers, I think the components will be the best bang for the buck for speakers, and I don't mind mounting the small tweeterson the doors just inside the mirrors.
I think that but upgrading the speakers with the stock HU, will give the slight quality increase I am looking for. If not, I'll change the HU's later.
Thanks!!!

Components are better than coax or triax. Period. Comps provide you with a crossover, and the pricier ones are usually adjustable. Comps let you stick that tweet where its best. And smaller comps generally sound better than a larger coax/triax. The coax/triax tries to be all things to all freq's and it just can't (compared to comps), no matter who makes it. That said, there's lots of excellent coax/triax out there that sound wonderful. But once you do the old A/B test, the sound quality isn't even close. On the other hand, to get themost from your comps, you must amp them. Nothing huge, mind you. Less than 75W should do nicely. I've got a Kicker 55W powering some DiamondAudio Motosport comps (5.25), and at any level, I just CAN'T hear my normallyexcellentandhighlytouted Kicker Impulse Coax in the rear of my SCrew. May as well not be anything back there. Get the best comps you can afford and a modest amp. Install. Throw on some Stevie Ray. Crank it. Let's see that big smile.
