Question JL Audio, MTX, Image Dynamics, Infinity Kappa Perfects: Which are the best subs?

I am upgrading my system in my 99' supercab and I am looking for the best subs to go with. I am looking for something that will be good to take to college so I want to go all out. I have been leaning towards JL Audio, but everywhere I go I am being told different stuff. Any input on Image Dynamics or Infinity Kappa perfect 10's in a supercab? Also, what will be the best set up. I am putting the subs under the rear seat, whether I have to lift the seat or not. I am looking to downfire the subs, but should I just go one amp 2 boxes (what I have right now), 2 separate custom built boxes with each sub having its own bridged amp, or what? also, any input on amps?
Look foward to getting your input.

For the amount of space available, I would use something along the lines of JLw3 d2 or MTX. An excellent amp is the MTX4125D. Though only rated for 250w @2ohm, expect more like 350!

Thumbs up what I ran in my f-150

I used to run two Mtx 6000 ten inch subs in my truck under the seat, in a down firing sytem you are talking about. They were powered by a Mtx4125d amp. This amp is a class D monoblock amp that is specifically design for lowend reproduction. I bought 2 4ohm Mtx 6000's wired them in paralel which results in a 2 ohm setup. To be perfectly honest that setup produced more clean bass than I could handle. It was awesome. The guy who bought that truck is probably deaf by now.

Nope didn't have to do that. We made the box using fiber glass and 3/4 mdf board. All we did was to put three 1/4 inch stops on the top of the box, that when the seats would rest on them.

JL's are bullet proof. just don't underpower them. I'm putting 350 watts off a zapco amp into 3 10w0's hit hard and clean.

If stopping bullets with your speakers is your thing then you dont want JLs. Something with a kevlar cone would do niceley. Perhaps a Soundstream Exact?

Hoenstly, on the high-end, all of the subs you mentioned are good choices. They will differ from one another slightly, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

My single 10" MTX sub w/250-watt MTX amp produces killer sound. Then again, so do the three 10-inch subs in my friend's Caddy, the dual 18-inch (!) subs in another friend's Tahoe... it really goes on and on.

Just make sure you don't cut any corners (so to speak) on any of your components or the installation, and I think you can't go wrong with any of your choices.
