Question Down fireing?

I have a 1997 extended cab and im getting a box built to house 2 10'' subs. I was wondering if i should down fire the subs for fire them up? Which would sound better? I have an Audiobahn A2150 amp and the subs are going to be Rockford fosgate HE2's. Any replys would be appriciated.

My boxes all fire down. I tried them facing up but the bass carries better when the woofer is pointed at the floor . I think the seat padding absorbs some of the sound when they are face up.

I lifted my seat 3" and I put a 12" 1000 Watt Aluminum Audiobahn woofer firing downward under the passenger seat. It sounds much better then firing up. I used to have 2 10" Punch XLC's firing up and they sounded much better when i put them facing down. It is a much boomier sound and it carries much more.

Lightbulb thanks now next ?...

Ok well I guess I will fire my subs down. Now the next question is going to be: How far away do i need the subs to be placed away from the ground? Also where am I going to put my amps. One is a Boss(75wx4) and is very small and the other is the Audiobahn A2150 which is fairly large. Again thanks to anyone who can help.

ry4n: My 10" JL stealthbox (replaces my console) fires directly into the floor. I can barely fit my fingers between the bottom of the console and the floor. Killer sound.
I also suggest you scroll thru the "Directory" on this site:

You can learn a lot. Some of it's technical, but most isn't. There are some helpful charts and formulas -- like how to determine the best box dimensions/volume for a particular sized sub.

I've got that box housing my MM100s. Down-firing is the way to go in an effie.

There really isnt much of a difference between up or down firing. You still end up losing a mm or two of xmax. Upward would be easier to build and your lady friends will like you more.
