2014 ... a bad pillar tweeter wire/connection?

Hey folks, I'm not really an audio/electronics guy. The last time I touched the audio in a vehicle (outside of a fuse) was when I installed Sparkomatic deck mount speakers on the inside door panels of my 72 Maverick Grabber. And if you recognize Sparkomatic, you go back a few years.

Anyway, my 2014 XLT has a driver's side pillar tweeter that cuts in and out with a bunch of static. That originally seemed like a speaker problem, but here's the thing: The problem goes away once the door is open by just an inch or two. So now this feels like a bad connection and/or wiring issue ... maybe? Does the wiring for the pillar tweeter go through the door (because that's not exactly the shortest route)? It's definitely just the driver's side, so it appears to be isolated and not systemic.

Anyone heard of such a thing - and any particular known problems with wiring an/or connections in this area?

Thanks,
dogfood
