2008 King Ranch Stereo Questions

As stated above I have an 08 King Ranch with the 6 disk changer head unit and the factory sub under the back seat.
The sub stops working intermittently with no pops or crackles or anything. If I turn the radio off and let it sit 30 seconds or so and turn back on, the sub comes back on and might play for a song or too, or might stay on for 45 minutes.
Also, if I leave the radio on and shut the engine off, the next time I start it, the sub won't come on. If I shut the radio off and then the engine, it will play for a little while after I start it up and turn the radio back on.
I can't tell if the signal from the head unit to turn the sub amp on is going on and off, or if the amp is shorting out internally or what. I need to check the power to the amp when it goes off to see if there is power or not.
Has anyone had this happen and figured out what is causing it?
Another question: Do the 4 door speakers have a power amp running them?
I was thinking about possibly changing the head unit to get something with bluetooth and more connectability.

Thanks for your help.

It could be a bad solder joint either on the head unit or the sub woofer unit.

Does anyone know if there is an external amp for the door speakers?

Thanks,

I don't believe so.
