Loses Treble....
Loses Treble....
Where to start??....
I have a Pioneer AVH-2550 2500NEX stereo.
22-Watts RMS and 50 watts peak.
I have upgraded Kicker speakers in both the front and rear doors.
6.75" in the front and 6x9's in the rear. 100-watts RMS continuous and 300 watt peak for all speakers.
After about 30-40 seconds of loud listening the treble drops out from all 4 speakers.
The speakers are still on and playing but with no treble.
When I turn it down the treble comes back after about 15 seconds.
Sounded to me like something was being overpowered or over heating and dropping out on a thermal cut off.
Odd to me in that problems I've seen in the past (not this instance) had the speaker drop completely out or lose the bass. This was a first for me to hear the treble drop out.
Thinking it was possibly the head unit I decided to install an amp.
I had an older Kenwood KAC-6402 400 watt amp and hooked it up. 4 channel x- 50 Watts RMS to each speaker with a 100 watt peak.
Louder of course but the same result. The treble drops out after about 40 seconds.
My question's are....
Do you think I might be over powering the crossovers ?
The wiring to the speakers is the original factory wiring. Is it possible it needs to be upgraded to something a bit heavier to handle the power?
Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you.
