Speakers and head unit

I'm gonna be getting a 2003 ford f150 regular cab. Wanna put a good sounding system in it with an after market head unit. What kinds are good and is there certain kinds for different vehicles ? I see wal mart sells a pioneer set up that comes with 4 speakers, and a pioneer head unit all for $109. Sound videos would be awesome to. I listen to mostly country and some rock here and there. Thanks.

That Walmart package will be an upgrade over stock but not by too much.

6x8's are whats in there from factory. So those will just be an easy swap. Any other size can fit, but may require an adapater plate or trimming to get them in.

Well I picked up the 2003 ford f150 yesterday. I'm gonna put my sony head unit in it from my 95 f150 and take the pioneer head unit that's in it out and into my 1995. Then I'll decide from there is I want speakers. If I do then I'll buy them sepertly.

ive had sony,s for years and never had any problems with them. buy the one that has front, rear and sub pre-amp outputs. you dont have to use all of them but its nice. also some of them have the lights dimmer feature, you connect one wire form the head unit to your interior dash lights, so when you turn on your lights it will dim the units display. so you can have it bright in the day, so you can see it, and dim at night when you turn on your lights. not sure if they all have that today, mines has it but my wife,s doesnt.
