2013 FX4 SuperCrew w/Sony Premium-aftermarket upgrade

Stumbling across forums, Crutchfield phone help, kicker customer service. Obviously looking to ditch that garbage Sony system.

I know what subs/box/amp I want. For the life of me, I can't get a straight answer on how to wire it. I'm reading about Line Out Converters (LOC) and pass filters and remote bass boost/control *****. At a minimum, I want to crank out more bass while keeping the stock receiver/head unit as I have everything integrated with the touch screen (w/ no NAV, but backup camera/climate/Sirius are in it).

Known: Remove Sony subwoofer.

Unknown: Is it a mono block amp back there? Is there a second amp for the component speakers (dealer indicated this and I can't find it)? How do I wire up a new amp w/ the existing wiring and get RCAs?

Assuming I replace the stock amp/sub, how limited are my stock component speakers? Crutchfield was trying to sell me some $400 filter to improve the frequencies the stock head unit puts out.

Hopefully y'all can help, just brought her home from the dealer last night.

I realize that Crutchfield was recommending a CleanSweep by JL and some other sort of aftermarket signal cleaner upper so that you can add amps, subs, and speakers to a stock system.

The issue with these new vehicles with the "premium sound" is that the signal is chopped and tailored to the specific system. You will need a signal summoner which will re-integrate all the high / mid / low frequency into a full range signal for your after market amp to use. After that is integrated sometimes the signal is not flat and needs to be evened out which is a different process. I believe audiocontrol has a system that does both, although i'm not 100%. I have yet to look into putting an aftermarket system in my F-150 so my knowledge comes from other vehicles.

Key points : you will need a summoner / signal modification device to send full range, flat signal to your new amp. And if you go through all that trouble ditch the stock sony components.

I have a 12' and all I did was cut the four wires coming into the stock subwoofer and plug them into the high level input on my new amp. Then run ur ground and hot wire to the amp, and the speaker wires to the subs and your done. My alpine amp has a built in remote sensing feature that doesn't require a remote wire. Super easy! No loc needed!
