2007 no power to Remote On at Factory Sub?
2007 no power to Remote On at Factory Sub?
Just bought a 2007 King Ranch SuperCrew and realized pretty quickly the factory sub isn't working. I tested and found no power at the remote on wire at the sub. Jumped the main power to the remote on and it works! So now try to hunt down why no power... and its fine (5.6v) coming out of the head unit. But no power at the sub connection?? Is there a connection somewhere in between there that I should be checking? Seems pretty unlikely that a wire in the harness just opened but I guess not entirely impossible. I'd much rather find the problem and fix it, but at what point am I just better off splicing a new wire at the head unit, route it to the sub, and splice it there again?? Thoughts and ideas are most welcome!
In case it helps someone in the future... did a little more digging and tracked the harness back to the connector behind the drivers side kick panel. Sure enough, the wire was broken off at the connector. I would have liked to fix it right by pulling the old prong out of the connector and replacing it so it was back to OEM but in the interest of time I just jumpered it with a short piece of wire to the other side of the connector. Working great now!
