Finding the right subwoofer

Wanting to add a little bit of bass to my 2006 F150 Screw. Don't need a lot, just enough to keep up with the door speakers driven off the Kenwood head unit.

I've found premade boxes are precut for 10" woofers but I don't have enough air volume for most 10" woofers. The 10" woofers than can work in the very small volume provided by premade boxes are too deep to fit. Are most others just cramming a 10" into premade undersized boxes and praying for decent sound?

I'm looking for a single box, an 8" would be fine for what I'm looking for. The typical .55cuft box would have enough volume to accomidate many 8" woofers in a sealed configuration. The problem is I haven't found an 8" premade box for under $100. I've considered making my own box, but don't have the measurements to work off of, not sure how much trial and error is involved for the under seat box.

Can get it with a cutout for an 8" sub.

Nice, was thinking about installing this subwoofer. $200 project plus another $100 or so for the amp.

subwoofers... 8's or maybe 10's?

If possible, look into shallow subs, you may be shocked
at how little space they require with a sealed box.
I suggest go with the largest diameter sub you can fit / afford.
There are always deals, especially around the holidays.
If you want quality, try to stick with authorized dealers.
Internet stores can sell products which may not pass all mfr quality tests, but still function/'run'.

(go with a 10, plenty of good info/threads on these in here)
Good luck.

Thats the route I took! Very happy with the results. I have used this sub both sealed and ported, it was decent sealed, but really impressive once I ported it. Look at my pics in my photo album, I still have the sub & ported box.
