no bass lots of treble and no screaming hi
I have a 99 f150 xlt red and tan extended cab truck and I recently purchased a Kenwood KDC-X396 Pandora Internet Radio CD Receiver and a 2 pairs of Rockford Fosgate Prime R1682 6x8-Inch Full Range coaxial Speakers and installed them they sound good but not great lacking the deep bass I listen to rock a lot and I want more bass but don't need a lot of power just some thump for classic rock what would u suggest I get maybe and 8 inch under the seat with a small amp ????
thanks for the tips on the heater core, speedometer solding point and gear shift indictor bracket I used them all ......great advice.

then I was talking with my brother about it and he gave me a Rockford Fosgate punch rfp 3410 10 inch sub.
the mounting depth is only 5 1/2 inches I have 7 under my seat now in figuring out how to make a box for it and I found this web site http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#rec it does the math for ya ............ man I aint no carpenter has anybody else attempted this..??????????????

7" isn't enough for a sub with 5.5" mounting depth. If you go with birch and make the box 5/8" thick that means you have a total wood thickness of 1.25", plus you need at least a half inch between the bottom of the sub and the box for it to vent, plus at least 1.25" between the face of the sub and the carpet or the bottom of the seat depending which way you place it.
back to the drawing board, man I don't want to get some those crappy low profile compact subs I hear they have a lot of problems with them maybe ill raise up the seat
I have fab shop where I work .make some spacers or something. I have a amp and 3 subs and nowhere to put them ................... just going to go with 1 10 inch rockford for now. may be ill cut a huge hole in floorboard lol.

Go with the alpine type r shallow. It was so good, it outperformed the normal type r and they had to go back and redesign it. I have one, its awesome for a single shallow 12 at 3.5" deep.
By the time you buy the MDF needed, the screws or nails, the sealant to seal the box, and your time in building the box. You have spent more then what this one costs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-FORD-...9ff546&vxp=mtr
Granted I know the feeling you get making something yourself. However I've started looking more at money spent. So unless your doing a crazy one off custom box, buying a pre-build normally ends up being cheaper.

Depending on your artistic ability this could be done. This is a supercrew and eveyone and there mom said it couldn't be done...guess they were wrong. These are 12's which pushed the envelope even further.

Just sell all the stuff you've bought, those free speakers, throw out that worthless broken amp and go buy a shallow mount sub.
Or buy a seat lift so you can build a proper box for one of the many subs you have.

ok going to go with a a couple of alpine 6x9s under the seat instead of the sub.
but that brings up a few questions that aren't covered in the manual.
I have 3 sets of pre-outs front rear and sub if I use the rear pre-out outs will that effect the hard wired rears and fronts ie no sound ?????? or just use the sub pre-out and cancel all the filtering I think the deck can do that.
here is the link to the speakers im looking at .http://www.bestcovery.com/alpine-spr...axial-speakers
this is my deck Kenwood KDC-X396
so I can run 7 sets of speakers???
