3000.00...hmmmmm
If I can get you sounding good with all the trimmings, can I keep anything under 3000.00 that we don't spend????? Just kidding
! Just a tip, do not walk into an audio store and tell them that you are "willing" to spend up to any set dollar amount....wait a minute did I just say that out loud? I will say to start with the head unit and make it your best investment. The signal going to any amp is going to determain how good the system will sound. Look for high volt outputs and at least two sets of RCA's, preferably 3 sets(front, rear and sub). After that I would get some really good speakers and so on and so on. What I am getting at is this, don't feel like yu have to do it all in one motion. If you set in your head that you are going to spend xxx.00 then you are going to have to make sacrafices somewhere. If you do it peice by peice, then you can get the good stuff, without breaking the bank all at once. This is just my opinion on the matter, but I hope it helps. And hey, I was new to this stuff once...about 12 years ago

hey 12vrep, i see you have the cellular mute for your head unit. is that with the cellular handsfree also? i bought the hands free cellular with mute for my pioneer and i cant get it to stop "clicking". its the one thats lets the phone call come throught the speakers and there is a small mic on my steering column. the problem is that it just clicks. i hear the caller but they cant hear me-just clicking. oh well any help would be good. thanks. mitch
r6racer,
I have the same head unit you do and have the hands free/mute. Didn't feel like hooking it up when installing my system and have been putting off since. I was just wondering if it is worth it to install/hook up. Have you heard anything about the XM satelite setup and when it is going to be available. I saw an advertisement at the movie theater last night before I saw American Pie 2 for the second time.
P.S. I emailed you a reply about the Carbon Fiber Parts.

thanks but im still wondering what sounds better i know i will have to raise the seat i can raise it 4 1/2 inches easy and im not worried about not having the seat fold up and down and im fine with that. what would sound better.... 3 10's (can i even fit that?) or 2 12's and if i can't fit 2 12's what would yall suggest if i want alot of bass but i dont want it distorted i want it crisp. what subwoofers are going to sound the best in that tight space, should i fire up or down?. i dont have any specs yet or a box so im just soaking in all the info. some people say they dont want to be herd down the street but i do
oh yeah can someone tell me where i can get a kit to raise the back seat?

ry4n, you have to decide what you want your system to do first. For me, I wanted clean, crisp sound. I didn't want to be like some other vehicles that you can hear coming from a mile away. I have an Alpine headunit, 1 amp and 1 subwoofer. In the doors are a component set. The headunit powers the "capped" rear speakers. "capped" so they don't recieve the low frequencies, that is for the sub. The amp powers the doors and the sub. My system is very clean.
For your truck, you should be able to get two subs under the back seat but the amp will be difficult to do depending upon your choices. I know that there is a company that makes boxes already, all you have to do it drop the subs in. They even have the Ford logo engraved on them too. An awesome sub that I have heard is the Kicker L series, this is the square subs. They say that the 8" sounds like a 10" round, the 10" sounds like a 12" round, the 12" sounds like a 15" round. This maybe an option for you. Go to the various dealers near you and tell them exactly what you want your system to do and what you have to put it in. Their next question will be the cost figure that you wish to provide. I would start at $2000 that way if there is something that you like later on before the system is installed, you can put it instead. This should give them a good idea of what you are looking for.
