Why Sony system is so quiet...?

I got the upgraded sound package for my 2012 fx4 f150, when it's maxed out its still kinda quiet, it seems like it automatically reduces power the more you turn it up. I drove a f250 2012 with reg radio and it blows the doors off my system, it goes so much louder then mine. Is there any way to turn up the Sony system or make it so it doesn't reduce the power? Any other ideas? IV already put pillow foam in the box, but that doesn't make it louder, just sound a but better... Thanks for the help!

I could be wrong but typically all factory amp'd setups have no formal way to adjust them. At the end of the day if you are looking for LOUD, you should consider getting an aftermarket stereo and amp.

Only other thing I could think of is that the Sony system might be tied into a speed sensor. Some of the newer cars have it setup that if you are traveling at high speeds it will automatically adjust the volume slightly higher to compensate for higher levels of road noise. This shouldn't be any noticeable effect to the listener though.

Try Turning off the Auto Level Adjust its usually called "road noise compensation" on the sync system it will keep it from adjusting the volume when your doing anything... other than that i agree with "AirLiftCompany"

just got a '12 F150 FX4 Screw with Sony audio/nav ... well the sound is OK, but nothing like I am used to in my BMWs and VWs (with Dynaudio upgrade).

Do you all think it's the speakers that are the weak link or the electronics?

Upgrading the speakers seems pretty logical, but I'd like to keep the electronics the same since the integration is so nice with everything.

I just got my truck and I think the sony system is fantastic. True its not like the sony JBL system I have on my boat but damn, I sure would not kick this sucker out of bed. To me no reason at all to change it out. Very happy with it.
