speaker harness adapter
speaker harness adapter
Ok, I am new to the forum and this is gonna be my first post. I recently got a 2003 FX4 Screw. I recently threw my 10" subs in and was content with the sound but not satisfied. I decided to change out the measly 25 watt door speakers. I got them in today and went to remove the door panels. Out of my eagerness to install them as quickly as possible, I forgot to order them speaker harness. I hate when I buy a used car and every harness is chopped to ****. I am kind of **** retentive when it **** like that. Anyway. I couldn't find any local auto parts with the adapter. Without making my story longer...I made my own.
1. These are what the adapters look like.
.
2. These are my new speakers.

3. OEM Speakers.

5. The OEM connection.

6. Using some needles nose pliers or a dremmel will work, cut the bracket holding the connection.

7. There is a locking tab on the harness to hold it in place on the speaker, try to preserve this. It has glue and the tab pushes up.

8. Using the soldering gun heat up the old wire to melt the solder. Heat and blow away the old solder. Remove wire.

9. Solder you new wires to the connector.

10. Mount harness to speaker, making the connection. The locking tab you preserved will hold it in place.

11. Remount and replace panels, sit back pop open a Dr. Pepper and enjoy the sounds

Yeah, crutchfield usually offers them for free with your order or they are 12.99 for a pair. Sadly I bought my speakers elsewhere and didn't want to wait to put my new speakers in.
I did the same i couldnt wait for them either. I went looking for them b/c i saw something on here about them. Not sure why i went to crutchfield to look. Figured it wouldnt make much difference if i didnt use them.
