Am I getting a good deal?

I went to the local car Audio shop and told the guy that I wanted good clean bass with my factory deck, this is on my new 2011. He told me he wanted to put 2 10s facing down in a custom ported box under the seat, this is the list of stuff

2 10" Phoenix gold slim line $140x2 $280
Phoenix gold rs 600.1 amp $349
Custom built ported box $225
Bass ****
Stinger wiring

The problem is, is that I cannot find retail prices online, I can only go by his word, anyway he said he will do it all for $700 installed. Is this a good deal and will I be happy?

From what I can find on the stuff you listed that amp is discontinued and people are having trouble selling it for 150 dollars. So I'm not sure I'd pay 350 for it.

The subs I can't find any reviews or retail prices for it, they look decent but I can't tell you for sure, the price seems reasonable for a slim sub however.

The box, is iffy. If you told him good clean bass I have no idea why he'd recommend a ported box. That'll put you being peaky and with a sharp roll off. The price is reasonable for a ported box especially if he's gonna make it match the curves and the floor and what not.

Bass ***** usually run like 10-35 depending on brand.

Stinger wire is expensive but good. If he'll do it all for 700 though and install it, it sounds like a good deal because he quoted you a little over 850 in parts not including wiring which is easily another 50 so it makes me definitely rethink the prices he gave you.

Honestly those prices are high because your going to your local store and doing it. The less they have to do the more money your going to save

Well dang I'm suppose to take it at 10 am this morning!! I don't know what I should do! If those are true retail prices than I think I am getting a pretty good deal, but who knows! Phoenix gold website stares that they do not sell from there web site nor does anyone's else.

The only part that worries me about the prices is he's saying he'll do all the work including the parts for around 200 less than what it cost him in parts.

Well I called and talked to a phoenix gold rep. I was excited to see that he was an American and could speak proper English, he really knew the products and the retail prices were correct. Also the company that owns stinger also owns Phoenix gold. The Reason why he was doing it cheaper is because the company I work for sends him a lot of business. I took it in this morning, he should be calling me anytime now so that I can go pick it up. I'll let you guys know how it sounds and post pictures.

He went with a sealed box instead of ported, the outcome was great and the sound is amazing for an under the seat setup! Don't think I have ever heard anything sound this good!!!
