Enclosure Help

Hey guys. I recently got a couple 12" Type-R's... Sort of an impulse buy, and I didn't realize there's really no easy place to put them in my supercab. I've been running my ghetto system for a year, so this was well overdue.

I searched for box dimensions and pictures, and none came up that really matched what I was trying to do. I've run across some center console style boxes, but those were a little too complicated for me. I got the basic design idea from boxes offered by supercrewsound and such. The new Type-R slid right under the rear seat, but there was no extra room for excursion. I really don't want to mess with a seat lift, so I designed a regular box to go under the seat with a section that sticks out into each of the passenger footwells for the subs.

I'll be using an Alpine PDX-M12 as soon as I buy it. After lots of measuring and adding, I ended up with 2.982 cubes. Is this enough volume to port? I think I want to tune it to 32hz if porting is possible. Also, I will be mounting the subs inverted, and that volume figure does NOT account for the 3/4" MDF thickness.

I haven't started building, so everything can change.

Here's some pictures in the meantime...

I almost gave up and used the tried and true bucket enclosure.

Laugh at my ratchet strapped ghetto system. 12" for perspective.

Not nearly enough space to port it, especially if that's without subtracting the thickness of the wood. Those subs want about .8 to .9cf sealed before displacement and somewhere between 1-1.5cf ported before displacement.

Crap. Well, would it be okay to still build the regular box under the seat, and then add a center console style on top? With a little tweaking, I think I can get 3.5 cubes with that odd design.

If I build that, I'm not quite sure how to get it in the truck??

edit: I've figured out how to make it fit. I'll post up a finished box in 2 weeks.

A little over 2 weeks later.

There's a few reasons why the box turned out this way... one of them is my own stupidity. I also didn't consider a seat lift, wanted to try inverted mounted subs, etc...
