4 10's under back seat?
4 10's under back seat?
has anyone tried this? or even 3 10's? i have an 08 f150 screw really want to try and build a box for 4 10's. i want to know if anyone has tried this. in my last truck i had 2 10" rockford p3s and it just wasnt enough noise! i have searched around and all i can find is silverado's with 4 10's but there back seat is freakin high. i dont want to do a seat lift either.. thanks everyone
Not without a seat lift or the part of the box with the subs coming out in front of the seat, just not nearly enough airspace unless you find some that require a very minimal amount sealed. Have you thought about porting those p3's? It would definitely increase output.

Honestly if you want output stay away from shallow mount subs, the output just isn't there. You should really consider either getting one decent ten and porting it or doing a seat lift. As for kicker they're good subs but there's other ones out there that might be what your more looking for and without the kicker price tag.

I've never heard BMs so I can't speak on they're part, but generally most shallows I've heard don't have as much output. With the exception of one shallow sub I have heard, which is the rockford shallow's great little sub for the price, but the price is high for them. And yes I know Kicker's aren't the best ever, but some people do love them but me personally I'd never use one again and if I did it would definitely be ported to get as much out of the sub as possible. But at the same time it all come's down to what he's willing to spend, what deals he finds, and whether he doesn't mind buying used. Definitely don't take this as an attack though mSaLL because I love your opinion on this kinda stuff and I know you have a lot more experience in the area than I do, I was just going off of what I've heard personally.
Not an attacck at all, just stating that you can get excellent performance from a shallow subwoofer. The reason all the ones you've heard don't impress is because they are poor quality and don't perform well in small sealed enclosures. The BM is in a different league, built with top-shelf parts and technology and designed for the 43Hz F3 in the tiny enclosure for excellent low frequency extension. As for output, the BM has 50% more displacement than the JL tw5 or the Rockford shallow, so it can put out when you need it. I just love not needing a seat lift, people are dumbfounded when I show them the little subs that are creating so much crisp sound.

Back to the topic though, even a decent set of 8's would give you the sound you want and probably still be able to fit under the rear seats. Something like the Sundown SA-8s, Skar VVX-8s, DC Level 2 8's, Digital Designs 1508's, and there's some others I can't think of but all would be great little subs.

back seats are for little girls!
but seriously, building a box that is too small for the subs just to jam them in there is absolutely HORRIBLE for the subs, and they wont last long. Do it right, or find alternatives.
