Decide on a type of sub first and then we can go from there. Do you have a price range for the sub or amp? Space limitations as in where is the sub going?

One thing I can tell you is to get a mono block amp, but I can't tell you what ohm load, rms, etc until you choose a sub.

thats doable if you can find some good deals. i paid 50 for my subs and got a 1000 watt amp for 100. but you still need a box and wiring.

i would save up more for some quality equipment.

Start checking craigslist or ebay, buying used means you can get something that's more high quality that'll fit in your budget for less than paying the new price. And if you can't build your own box figure somewhere around 30+ to get one new, where it cost about 15 to build one. And wiring figure at least another 20.

Mono amp if your only going to be running one sub. But a 2 channel will work if it's cheaper as long as you can bridge the channels.

Also since you already have the box do you know the volume of it? You have to match it as close as possible to the sub's recommendations.

Here's some suggestions:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...s-HFX12D4.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...nce-1262W.html
Either one of those subs with one of these amps:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...L-EV1500M.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...t-FX1.400.html
If your budget allows I'd get the infinity with the mb quart amp. That sound storm say's it does 900rms at 2ohms but it's probably more like 300-400rms.

Or:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ss-Bundle.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ss-Bundle.html
Which come with everything you need minus the box.

If you decide to piece together your own system you'll also need one of these

Note: all those subs require somewhere around 1.25cf sealed so if your box is smaller your gonna need to look into shallow mount 12's, those usually run around .9cf but they also cost more. Hope all this helps man.

Save your money. Anything worth having is working for. You'll need atleast $1000 for a good sub and amp. I've never payed less than $2500 for a stereo and my truck sounds like a Metallica concert.

I'm pretty sure he's just looking to upgrade some, not go full competition audio. Everyone has to start somewhere, and a starting budget of a $1000 is pretty extreme. They're is a lot of good sub/amp combo's for way under a $1000 that are perfectly suited for a entry level daily driver. And for $2500 I'd be interested to know what you have in your system.

On mine I started out with purchasing a JL stealthbox with a 12" sub for the rear console.
I was lucky and found one (less than a month old) from someone that just sold their truck.

Then I shopped around and found a JL Audio XD 600/1 class D monoblock amp for the sub.
I too have a very limited budget but my first install was four new infinity door speakers.
They made a huge difference!

My next item was to do sound deadening on the inside of the cab. Here's a few pics. Picture1 Picture2 Picture3

Recently I added the JL Audio XD 400/4 class D 4 channel amp to power the Infinity door speakers.
I installed them inside the rear passenger seat compartment so nothing is visible when looking inside the truck.

Mind you I had a plan when I started out and a very limited budget. It took me a while and I did one piece at a time.
Very quiet interior and crisp clean balanced sound with a nice full bottom sound. I'm very happy with the end result.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-z130bt which already puts me over $1500 installed, 2 Rockford P3's which is $600, a kicker 1500.1 amp at $1000, then a custom built box set up specifically for my trucks airspace and the subs I have- $230. I haven't even started with door speakers or sound dampening. And my system is far from an audiophiles stereo and miles from a competition system. I just like my music to sound good.

Anyways to the OP, don't half a** a stereo unless your in high school. It's like saying you want to lift your truck and you've only got enough money to buy tires when you need to lift, get tires, gears and fix your speedo. You gotta pay to play.
