Ways to improve?

Over the course of the last 18-24 months I have purchased and installed a system in a vehicle for the very first time. Most of that never could have been accomplished without the help of forums like this and people like you. I had ZERO experience in car stereos before I decided to upgrade my F150.

In the last 12 months I have had my Kenwood DNX9960 stolen twice. This has obviously slowed things for me. I have just recently added a single 10' sub and I cant believe that I have put together something that sounds so good, to me atleast. I set out looking to create a solid system with an affordable budget that had pretty good sound quality across all types of music.

I am now wondering what my next steps will be. Should I add a dual 10 or 12 sub box and get rid of the qlogic single sealed box? Should I add something to the rear doors for fill? Should I move the components from the front doors into kick panel enclosures? Are the qlogic kick panel enclosures worth it for $100? Are my drivers solid or should I look at upgrading those?

I am looking for any and all suggestions to take that next step. What would you change? What would you improve?

Once again, I thank you all for the guidance that has gotten me this far.

Here is what I have:

Front Components mounted in stock door locations - ID CTX65CS - http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6201-ctx...er-system.aspx

Front Component Amp mounted on back wall - Sundown SAX-125.2 - http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9256-sax...amplifier.aspx

Single 10 Sub in qlogic sealed box under rear seat - MB Quart RLP254 - http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8887-rlp...subwoofer.aspx

Sub Amp mounted on back wall - Sundown SAX-125.2 - http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9256-sax...amplifier.aspx

HU - Kenwood KDC-HD545U - http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8528-kdc...-receiver.aspx

Do you have an alarm on your truck? Might need one to prevent future theft.

As for the rear fill, you don't really need to worry about that. I would just run the rear speakers off the HU if you want them. Rear fill speakers are usually used to keep rear passengers happy.

What you should do next is up to you and your listening taste. Is there anything you don't like about your setup?

Honestly right now, I love how it sounds. But...this is the first system I have ever installed in one of my vehicles, so that is to be expected I am sure.

I guess Im asking what would be the next things to upgrade, to make it even better. I am thinking about doing a system in my wife's civic, so I would be moving things from the truck to her car.

If I were to replace my components, what would you go with next? Should I go from one 10 to two 10s or 12s for my subs?

PS - I now how a Viper alarm installed.

Well I have run many different component sets in my truck. Current setup is Focal 165 KR components. They are my favorite components so far that I have owned. I bought them from an authorized dealer for about half price, they are not cheap.

If you plan on upgrading to two 10's you will probably need a bigger sub amp. If you want two 12's you will prob need a seat lift, unless you use shallow subs. There are nice shallow 12's like the Alpine Type R, SI, etc.

Check out the DIYMA.com forum if you have not already. There is a ton of good stuff to read on there. Also there are a lot of nice trucks on here with good build pics that could give you some ideas.

You could also look into sound deadening. I did my whole truck, got a nice improvement after doing the doors.

My current setup is this:

2002 Reg Cab FX4 F150

HU: Alpine CDA-117

Doors: Focal 165 KR's

Door speaker Amp: Alpine PDX-F4

Subs: Two 2011 Alpine Type R 10's

Sub Amp: Alpine PDX-M12

If I had your truck I would upgrade to two subs next.

But I am a bass addict so that's only my opinion LOL.
