Install pics

I took some pics of my audio install over the weekend. You can see them here.

Click on the "audio" link on the left.

I wanted something simple that would give better sound, and I'm happy so far. I only spent about $40, as most of the parts I had just laying around.

What kind of subs do you have? I have a JL 10W0, and it's too deep to fit under there very well. Matter of fact, I cut the back of the box out so part of the magnet could stick through. The sub is sandwhiched between the top and bottom of the box, and there is a gasket on the bottom to prevent leaks. This is the only way I could get it to fit properly.

My problem is that I will only use JL subs, and at least a 10". I couldn't find a box that would fit that, so I made my own. I like the sound of a small sealed box, too.

I just got the subbox.net downfire box. I can fit JL 10w3's in there (really tight but they will fit). Their box is really clean... I've gotten a lot of compliments from people at audio stores.

I have two JL Audio 10" subs in a down-firing enclosure under the rear seat. See pics here: http://www.f150world.com/loknload/?album=680

Where did you get the kit to raise the seat, or how did you do it? Looks like that is what I am missing.

I used 2x2's (1 1/2 x 1 1/2") and carpeted them to match the interior. I also made 1 1/2" spacers for the back bolts (by the seat belts). I took the center brace from the floor to the seat bottom completely out and the middle of the seat rests on top of the box. It sounds great.
