05 Factory Sub with aftermark HU question

I am going to purchase a dvd/nav head unit. The unknown right now is if my factory sub is powered with its own amp. Will there be a power feed or switch signal on the factory head unit that may not be on an aftermarket one. If so, will just connecting that wire to a switched power source work for the amp/sub?

The factory sub is powered by it's own amp. It's actually located on the box itself I believe. My new system gets here this week and i went ahead and already took out the stock sub to get the truck pre wired and ready. On the bottom of the box is a little silver box that I believe is the amp. As far as the after market head unit still making the stocker bump. I'm not gonna say for sure that I know it'll work. But I honestly don't see any reason why it wouldn't as long as you get the correct harness for the new HU.

Thanks...I am sure I will get it to work with the new HU. It only has the sub out wires. From what I see from the factory unit wiring diag. there is a brown wire that goes to the sub to power it on when the HU is turned on. Going to pull things out tomorrow and see what I find. I dont see a problem running power to the sub from the acc. power.

That other little one on the right takes care of hooking the sub to the new HU
