Would anyone know what size speakers fit in the stock hole behind the seat.
There is a spot for an oval speaker on the pillar just below the seat belt on either side with no speaker in it.
Reason I'm asking is it's my dads truck so I can't really go out and tear it apart and measure without him knowing and I want to get him some speakers for christmas.
Also would there be speaker wire already run from the stock wiring harness? The Sony HU was installed by I think Best buy a couple of years ago.
Thanks.

ford uses 6x8in speakers, how ever i'd recommended a good set of 6.5in components they will fit but you need to make an adapter plate i use masonite and cut it to fit.

as for the wiring if sound comes out of the factory speakers then yes there is wire running to them. the factory speakers actually use the same type of connector as the COPs (at least my 03 does) i just cut them and spliced them (solder them don't crimp them).

also make sure you know which is + and which is - if the speaker's poles are reversed it won't perform properly and you will lose low-end.

There is no factory speaker there at all right now.
I'm sure my dad will not be worried about what sort of bass he could get if different speakers are used, I just want to get him whatever will work quickly and easily to create better sound. No jammin or jivin needed.

pioneer makes some good three way speakers, they're only about $60 per pair at wal mart get the 6x8in set that what you need.

also when you install them an easy way to check polarity is to put your finger on the cone with no power then turn the volume up a lot if the cone moves away from your finger then the poles are reversed if the cone pushes against your finger then your good to go.
