Final Thoughts on New Audio Config
Final Thoughts on New Audio Config
Hi Guys,
So after about 2 months or so of researching and reading up, I think I have a final build sheet for my truck. I just wanted to put everything down on paper, so to speak and see if anyone had any final thoughts before I placed my orders this weekend.
Sound Dampening:
- 160 sq ft of Damplifier Pro
- 90 sq ft of Luxury Liner Pro
- 2x Speaker Tweeter Kits from Second Skin Audio
HU/Amps/Power:
- Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD head unit
- Rockford Power T600-4 to drive components (bi-amped)
- Rockford Power T1000-1bdCP for subs
- Rockford RFC10HB 10 farad capacitor (I know 10 farad is overkill for my total RMS, but I found a good deal)
Speakers:
- Hertz Mille MLK 165 components (front doors)
- Infinity Kappa 682.9cf (rear doors, driven off HU for rear fill)
- Stereo Integrity BM mkIII (x2) subs
My final concern is with the box/air space requirements for the BM mkIII's. I was wondering if anyone had a template I could use to put together a sealed box for these subs? I've seen some members with these installed, and I want to make sure I have enough airspace for optimal output and make sure that the box fits as nice as possible under the rear seat without having to do a seat lift.
Thanks in advance, and also for all of the other great posts here which gave me the inspiration to start this project!

Look in my thread or the other one posted here for basic dimensions of the box. I was able to net .46 cu ft per chamber with polyfill on my first attempt, which is optimal for the BM. My second attempt is going to be a more perfect fitting box with the same airspace.
"I built the whole thing with 5/8" MDF. Exterior dimensions came out to be 50.5" long, 13.5" deep and ~4.2" tall with a 5" notch for the middle seat bracket. It has split chambers and interior volume is .46 cu ft per sub, stuffed with polyfill (1 pound per cu ft). Gonna have it sprayed with truck bedliner for the finish. Way more durable than carpet or vinyl etc."
Is that what you were referring to, and will your box work without a seat lift? I'd really rather leave the rear seat at the stock height if possible. Thanks again! BTW - Nick said he'd be building/testing my new drivers today, so I'm hoping to have them by the end of the week!
Well I received my amp wiring kit, my capacitor, and a couple of other miscellaneous items today. Sound deadening, rear speakers, BM mkIII drivers, are all on their way... The last items left to order are the MLK 165 components and the amps. I'm going to try and get some/most of the sound deadening installed this weekend (assuming it arrives by Friday), run all the wires, install the rear speakers, and hook up the new head unit. It might be a bit before I order the components and 4 channel amp seeing as though I just had to order $600 worth of brakes today, and a $100 drivers side integrated wheel end...
Just as a heads up, I'll be getting rid of my Pioneer AVIC-D1 Nav system, XM Nav Traffic receiver, iPod adapter, factory subwoofer, and rear stock 6x8 speakers within the next week or so. I'll post everything in the correct area once I have pictures and write up descriptions.
I'll do my best to take pictures of the build as it goes and post them up...

Not true. The rear speakers are the same as the normal Ford 5x7 coaxial, the front speakers however are component seperates with a 4" mid and 1" tweeter with an external crossover. The audiophile system also comes with a 90w amplified 8" subwoofer.
