shallow vs reg subs
shallow vs reg subs
ok so still plannin out my system "redo". I thought I was gonna build a nice box that went from the back of my center console back to and under my rear seat( 2010 screw).. Had all my specs then was lookin. @ a shallow mounts. I'm lookin rockford 12s
on both. I notice they both use an optimum 1.0 cubes. So then I'm like well throw the shallow under the seat. So finally heres my question. If both subs are put in the propersize box, does the shallo w hit as nice as the traditional sub? I thought maybe I saw someone saying they sounded like poo. Thx in advance

You'll need to take a look at the drivers specs in order to determine whether or not they will play low in a particular enclosure. How they sound is pretty subjective. However, saying that all shallow subs sound a particular way is like saying that all big/deep subs sound the same.
The four best performing shallow subs out IMO are the Stereo Integrity BM mkIII, RE SL, Alpine Type-R shallow, and JL TW5. They all have their individual strengths and weaknesses, but those subs definitely don't sound like the negative "shallow sub" stigma.
