2010 Wiring Question
2010 Wiring Question
I have a 2010 F-150 XLT SuperCrew with the standard radio and Sync. I was wondering if the wiring for the Premium Sony system is put in all trucks and just not used for these models?
I am been told that some Ford models put all the wiring in there and just don't use it if the trim level doesn't call for it. I am trying to verify if that is true, because I would like to add a sub to this thing, and if the wiring for the factory sub is under the carpet, then that would make my life a whole lot easier.
Any and all help is appreciated

That might be something you'll need to check. Some users of the pre-generation F150s have said they've located stock subwoofer wiring, some have mentioned they haven't. I believe the XLT's won't come with that upgrade since they're not available. I believe it's just for the more prestige trims that didn't get them since they're optional for those trims. Your best bet is to get under your carpet and check it out!!
I think you are correct. I spoke to a Ford Master Tech and he said exactly what you said. That since the XLT doesn't have the sony system as an option, it probably wasnt ever included. I was being lazy and hoping I didn't have to run speaker leads and power and remote wires to get me sub going.
Thanks for the input.

Personally, I feel you're always best running your own wiring this way you can run appropriate wiring for the sub(s) you want to use and the amount of power you want. Also, running your own wires is more ideal in the event you want to upgrade your system, in which it'll be much easier to upgrade just an amplifier and subwoofer than having to remove old wiring and run new ones.
I'm also interested in finding out if the wiring is there. I looked under the cab and didn't see it. I also took the rear plate off the passeger door and it wasn't there. Must be under the carpet or not included. Looked at a platinum today and coldn't see where the wires were coming from, so much be from under the carpet. Which reminds me, if you get the sony 700 watt subwoofer, more than likely you will need the part number for the harness that plugs into it.
I did the same thing. I looked at a platinum and realized that the sub is not under the seat, just the amp is. I thought the sub was there as well. Where is the sub located?
I don't think the wiring is in there for an XLT. I wish it was, but I don't think it is.
