Need help selecting

Hey I guys, I decided recently that i'm finally going to go ahead and get sub's for my f-150. I was thinking that 2 10's would do fine. Is that a little overkill or not enough? I'm looking for a pretty good bump but nothing to shake the bolts off. Open to all suggestions.. a buddy of mine was talking about how having the same brand sub's, amp and headunit help a ton.. is this bs or true? And if so I have an alpine headunit. Thanks

Good is good regardless of brand. Having the same brand all the way through might aid in interchangeability/connectivity, but it has nothing to do with performance. Careful selection of components based on your need and budget is far more important than brand-matching.

I have a single Image Dynamics 10 pushed with a 400w Crossfire amp. It does exactly what you're asking for - plenty of good, solid, clean bass in enough quantity to never leave you asking for more, but not quite enough to have the neighbors calling the cops. I haven't had a single person audition the system and say, "Not enough bass." Most people, even picky music-snob types, usually just say, "Wow, that sounds great."

I selected the ID because it fit my budget. There's plenty more out there to choose from.

Yeah thats BS. The headunit has no idea what kinda amps or speakers you are running. And just because a company can make a good headunit doesnt mean they can make subs worth a darn.

Image dynamics subs are good. I really like my idq12. If you need a shallow sub, read the thread on the SI BM's. Cant be beat for a small enclosure.

You could get away with 1-10, 1-12, What kinda power and space and budget do you wanna give up?

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...23&brand_ID=36 for id subs or go through imagedynamics themselves. Id go id or idq, you dont need idmax.
