opinions for new speakers

looking to replace mine in my 2010 screw and looking for some opinions on some 6x8 replacements. i'd like to hear from you guys about choices you made and as to why you chose them. i do not want to hear that you got them because such and such said i should get them. i'd like to hear that you chose them because you compared them to x, y, and z and i chose them because ___________. kinda hard for me to find a place to listen to some 6x8's and compare them in a display. thanks.

In terms of sound quality, you are far better off going with a 6.5" setup. Circular cones can produce much better bass than any other shape. If you are intent on the 5x7 or 6x8 then I love the Alpine speakers. They sound great and won't break the bank! I'm personally running Pioneer 3-ways for my current setup just cuz they were very inexpensive and gave me great highs where my system lacked (then again any 3 way speaker will do that). I've had great listening experience with Infinity but if you can afford them, go with Focal or Dyn Audio. Nothing beats a 3" voice coil on a 6.5" driver

i had a chance to go to the Best Box store the other day and found a couple of speakers which kind of caught my eye as well as my ears for sound quality and clarity. found infinity kappa 682.9 cf and infinity reference 6822 cf. very nice and clear highs compared to a set of pioneers tsa's that were on the rack as well. what do you think of these??

just for the sake of asking what would be required in order to mount a set of 6.5's into the pockets in the doors adapter wise and will it require any cutting?? i am not in realm of considering any trimming in my doors which is why i was looking at direct fit replacements.

Went with Pio TS-D6802s in all four doors based on lots of web research and trips to local big box stores and stereo shops to compare with at least a dozen different brands/sizes. They seemed to always be just a tad bit more appealing than the other speaks (subject to my preferences in audo, of course). The price was a factor, too, being right in the middle of the pack in terms of cost.

Don't know what they'd be like as the only source of sound, but amped and paired with my ID10D sub they deliver both quality and quantity well beyond what I expected. I have no reservations recommending them.

I have always had a great respect for Infinity products, they never fail to amaze me. I'm just not too excited about their amps. As for 6.5" fitment, I've heard people tell me you don't need to cut, and I've heard people say you do. I'm going to be putting 6.5" speakers in my truck, so I'll be finding out for certain eventually the extent of panel modification for install. I know you'll need to make a mounting adaptor for them.
