Recommendation for wiring amp/subs...

I have two 12" L7's in a sealed enclosure. The box has 1.3 cu ft per side. The amp is a Soundstream Picasso 2000D. Supposedly it puts out:

2000 watts at 1 ohm
1500 watts at 2 ohms
1100 watts at 4 ohms

Here is the problem...my L7's are the dual 4 ohm voice coil variety, which means that I can run 4 ohms or 1 ohm load across all four voice coils. The speakers can handle 750 watts RMS each. Optimally, it would be best to run the amp at 2 ohms, but that is not an option. So, would I be better off running the amp at 4 ohms or 1 ohm? How will this affect the output? This box is only going to be used to supplement the "high end" 300-watt audio system in my son's 2006 GTI, so it really doesn't need to be that loud and will probably keep the gain turned down quite a bit anyway.

Thanks for any info.

If it will handle 1ohm w/o over heating id do that. More power available is always better.
On the safer side, 4ohm will give less power but cause less stress on the amp.

Thanks. I went ahead and wired the voice coils in parallel so each sub is 2 ohms. That way, we can try 4 ohms and 1 ohm without having to take out the speakers.

I would wire them up at 1 ohm and just set the gain conservatively.

That is a good amp. It will be fine at 1 ohm.

yea I ran my sundown sae1200 @.5ohms and never had a single problem. Then pushed it to 1ohms and its still set there today no problems whatsoever. They do make a very solid product you got nothing to worry about. I say set at 1ohm and set gain conservatively so when he wants to be really loud he could turn the gain up a bit and show off. L7's can handle way more than 750 each they'll eat up whatever you throw at them. My L7 15 saw a little over 3000@1ohm on a daily basis and if you know me you know I listen to it loud and I beat the **** out of that thing and never had a problem wit it. It actually didn't sound too bad I had it in a sealed box so it wasn't very sloppy at all and sounded really good for a pure spl sub and damn did it get loud!
