Under seat subs

Alright guys, I am currently rolling around in a 98 super cab with a custom box I have built that sits on top of the back seat and runs to the floor. I have it set up to run 2 12" kicker cvr's and I love the bass that it makes. However, I am getting ready to go all leather in my truck and I do not want a sub box sitting on my brand new custom leather. I have been putting alot of thought into getting a sub box that goes under the back seat, even if I have to get the seat lift kit or whatever. My main concern is that I won't get much bass out of a downfiring system that goes under the back seat. I was wondering what exactly I should expect I guess from a downfire system.

I almost bought this:

What do you guys think? Does anyone have a "under the seat" system that sounds really nice?

I have two 10" inch cvrs under mine they work for me, but in your case Idk if you will have enough air space for those 12's. As far as the seat lift I made mine myself out of some aluminum pipe for the spacers I can send pics if that would help.

That would be sweet if you could send some pics. I wouldn't even mind 10s under the back seat as long as I would get some nice sound out of them. I am not planning on shaking doors off or anything but I like decent bass ya know?

you need to have enough airspace for the subs to make them sound good

I have a box from supercrews(?) with two 12" and it pounds (potentially deafening and sounds good). Sticks out from under the seat unfortunately, I was hoping to be more stealthy. Doesn't color match up with the tan interior that well though.

Yes.

Look at the Stereo Integrity BM 12". Only needs .5 ft of airspace each, 3.5" deep and they play flat down to 20Hz. Oh, and they are loud.

I know that fool! I was hoping that I could find some shallows that would be nice and bass-y . I was going to buy a pre-made box.

I wish I had a supercrew for the extra space

Msall150: How do you think two of those SI BM 12's would sound like in one of those pre-made under seat boxes with a Fosgate 1000 watt mono punch amp?

downfires in a truck cab will produce no difference in bass than anyother way.. in car truck, even then it wouldnt produce MUCH of a difference.

It really depends. If the pre-made boxes are close to the airspace requirement (.4-.6) and have enough room for cone excursion, they will probably sound excellent.I personally built a basic box for mine, it was pretty easy. Check out my gallery.

The RMS recommendation is 450 watts per sub. Keep in mind though if the box is larger than the .5 cu ft recommendation, power handling will decrease.

Remember to stuff the box with poly fill.
