No way to put it under the rear seat? A single 10" box fits pretty well and takes up only one side.

Agree in concept but disagree in application. Speakers are only as good as the system allows them to be. Treating doors in an attempt to improve aftermarket speaks driven by a factory H/U is like putting racing seats, a roll cage, and big slicks on your car but leaving the engine stock.

Will it help on some level? Yes. Will it set you up for other things down the road? Sure. But in terms of performance right now the return doesn't justify the investment until other changes are made. The best speakers and most intensive door treatments in the world will be little more than window dressing until the power is there to support the performance.

I guess all that to say that I agree with you, but with the caveat that the entire sound system must be taken into account. Concentrating on one area without considering all other factors can lead to lots of time and money spent for a limited return.

Well I could put it in the rear but I use my floor quite a bit and wouldnt want to loose the floor space. What about an 8 inch? preferably under the middle seat?

AZ, I'm like you, don't want to give up what little room I have. I just came out of an '08 GMC 2500HD Duramax Crew. This back seat design on these trucks, with all this crap in the floor, is absolutely horrible. You'd be almost as well off if the seat bottom didn't lift. GM is way ahead of Ford on that one.

Point being, I want something compact. Not a window rattler, but just something to add some bass. I'm over trying to play musice for the folks over in the next county. These are the 2 I'm conisdering:

The Kenwood can be had much cheaper. The Sound Ordnance seems to be a Crutchfield brand. Reviews are better on the SO.

I've considered putting the rear seat lift in and going to the Infinity Basslink, but probably won't. I think one of these smaller units will do all I require. Might not meet your needs though.

The SO is 3.25" high.
The Kenwood is 3.5625" high.

That might just work under your middle seat. Not sure what you've got to work with.

Add an inch to account for box thickness and a gap between magnet assembly and box.

Actually, that's all in. Those are powered, self-contained subs.

guess ill have to do some measuring. David, I have a 2007 Silverado as a work truck and yes I agree the flat floor all the way across is very nice. Although I think the ford seats are thinner when folded up. Never heard of sound ordnance but that looks like just what I would need. I like that it has its own amp too.

I think S/O is Crutchfield's brand. The reviews are better than the Kenwood, understandably becasue it has the 8" driver. But, the 6x8 driver with a passive radiator can make some decent bass I'm sure. As long as it doesn't get a bunch of negative over the next few weeks, I'll probably be getting one. If I beat you to it, I'll let you know. You do the same.

That Kenwood is a single 5x7 with a 38 Watt RMS amp, I wouldn't waste my time on it, much less $250. That SO one looks a lot like a cheapo one sold by Boss http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...s+BASS900.html . The stock audiophile 8 would probably outperform all three.

For the price of either, you could put together a cheap single 10 package and you could make it so you could just pull the box out when you need the underseat space.

AZ, The Audiophile sub takes up the big half of your back floorboard, under the seat. If doing that, you can get a better set-up. But that puts back to where you, nor I, want to be. So we're back to the self-contained units. Mine's a Scab, so I'm considering the rear seat lift and going to the Infinity Basslink. Just haven't convinced myself I want to lift the rear seat. Plus that's another $120 or so to plunk down.

I was just looking on Crutchfeild and they have a 12inch MTX underseat box. Anyone know if these are good? Oh wait are these for under the backseat too?

The thunderforms? Yes they're also under the back seat.

Sure enough. Options are very limited outside of a big sub box. I've considered a 6" Bazooka Tube, but reviews are mixed and I'm not sure it'd fit.

Maybe I need to take another look at that rear seat lift....

Ok, you guys are making this tough. How about the du-ha underseat storage system which can be had with a smaller box for the audiophile (or an aftermarket) 8" sub.

GatorB8, I may be in your neck of the woods Memorial Day weekend. Coming to visit family in Hattiesburg. If fishing was open I know we'd be there. Love to chase the specs and reds.
