sub box between front and back seats?

Dumb idea? or brilliant?

I have a Super Crew and I'm trying to decide what sub to get. I know I can get a shallow and easily make a box to fit under the seat. I've also seen some prebuilt boxes that will fit up to 6.5" mounting depth.

What I'm also thinking is building just a cube shaped box and putting it behind the front bench... Would be about 13" cubed so it wouldn't be too big. It would take up foot room for somebody in the middle but I have a munchkin in the back anyway.
I was just considering this option because it would open up my options for a sub and be super easy to build. I would definitely figure a way to secure it to the floor for safety reasons but would also make it easily removable for cargo needs.

What do you guys think?

I have a jl 10w6 in a single ported box that might do exactly that.

12" sub

I just recently built a box similar to this. It wasn't the cube design though. The dimensions where 10 inches tall, 16" on the bottom and 14" on top. 13" wide.

center console anyone?

I just built a sub under my rear seats and hid the amp behind the passenger rear back seat. Sounds good. I wouldn't put a cube in the middle. I'd hide it....but that's just me.

I would have liked to have hid mine but I don't have the center console and didn't want to spend the extra money just to lift the seat up. I do like the center console idea though if you have a setup like that.

If you are handy dandy make your own center console then I have 2 10" jl10w1's in there and amp hidden in the back under the rear cupholders.

Would you be able to do this with a center column shifter?

Im not sure, as the level and selector would have to get molded in and I dont know how much parts/space that consists of, Im sure you could.
