Audiophile Door speakers and Tweets worth it?

Just as the title states... is it worth it to complete my audiophile system, or would I be better off just getting some aftermarket 3 ways for the doors?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Essentially, you need tweeters to give higher-frequency fill. With proper tuning from your headunit, 3 ways can sound pretty good compared to the Audiophile system. Personally, I'd check out the Alpine Type S components. No crossover networks, each speaker has it's own crosover (tweeter and midrange) so it's a simple hookup from your headunit. You just gotta get an adaptor plate if you're getting the 6.5" which is a far better shape of speaker than 5x7's for midbass.

I probably should have mentioned that my current HU is a Factory NAV with sub/amp enabled. The only part of the Audiophile system I am missing is the door speakers with tweeters!

Thanks for the feedback

Oh, well then, lol. I would do an aftermarket set just because of price, also I'm not fond of oval-shaped cones for midrange or midbass fill. But if you already have the electronic setup, it would be a nice match to get the Audiophile set.

The NAV unit is causing some issues though and might be replaced with just an audiophile 6disc!

By having the NAV programmed to work with the overhead DVD I lost a considerable amount of volume! Apparently the Rail DVD isn't meant to work with the NAV! It can be made to work though, but with compromise to the quality of the sound system! To me, the money spent on the NAV doesn't justify having it if the whole system doesn't work 100%.

Thanks again

Have you checked all of the sound settings on your head unit. Just turning on the RSE or Sirius shouldn't affect volume on the other functions, is it just the RSE system that has lower volume or is it CD and Radio too?

The 04-06 audiophile components are round 4" with separate tweeters and a crossover network, on the 07-08 they went to a 6x8 woofer instead of the 4s. At that low of power, it's really not going to matter the shape of the cone. That said, you'll have more options with after market speakers, just make sure you go for higher efficiency speakers if you are not going to use an aftermarket amplifier.

I am interested in selling the nav and currently have a thread started in classified! I bought the Nav from chicago parts and sound on eBay! Great service there! They programmed the Nav based on how my truck was set up! They could easily programm it to your preference should that be needed!

Gator

the loss of volume is throughout all audio playback! Some if the vloume was restored when I added the sub/amp! The problem with the DVD is not all the functions work properly with the NAV

That makes me wonder if your head unit is still controlling your rear speakers, since the RSE can take them over. When you lose rear speakers, it can sound like you have reduced volume. Make sure your rears are still playing.

Rear speakers work from what I can tell! When I noticed the loss of volume I called Chicago Parts to ask why. I was told the loss was a result of how they had to program the NAV to make it work with the early style of overhead DVD! The NAV is/was intended to work with the newer Multi-channel DVD found in F150's 2007 and up!

It required some tweaking to make work! And I guess the comprimise is loss of volume! I'm just not convinced that its worth it at this point!

Thanks Gator,

Nem
