2001 F150 Super Crew Sub Box HELP
Hey guys I'm new to this so bear with me. I have a 2001 F150 Super Crew and I love it. It is by far the best truck I've ever owned. I recently got two 10" woofer mounted in a box from a friend of mine. The box fit in his 2005 F150 but obviously will not fit in mine. I am great with wood woorking and have all the tools to build one. What I don't have are the plans. I know that somewhere out there in the wide world of the internet there are plans just sitting there waiting. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thanks.
First off, your best bet is to make sure the subs fit under your seats. Lay your seats down and place your subs under the seats to make sure there is enough room. You have two options as far as woofer placement goes, upfiring or downfiring. Either way, you need to make sure that if the subs do fit under your seats that you make sure you have at least an inch between any hard surface and the cone of the woofer. Second, once you have found your placement, build the enclosure around the subs starting with the baffle board. Measure the width of your seats subtracting brackets and obstructions. Brace internally and you will be fine.
Trust me, it's really easy to build your own box. If you can work with wood, then you can probably use your imagination as well. A lot of box building involves visually seeing where you do and don't have space. If you want actual dimensions, you will have to do a lot of searching to find an enclosure for your year pickup, truck model, model subwoofers, enclosure type, and firing direction. Easiest way is to DIY. Also, there is a better sense of accomplishment when you can build an enclosure from what you see in your truck and not what you see on paper, and it might not even fit!

They are 4 ohm. I don't know which one I want ported or sealed. Does the amount of air space needed, change between ported and sealed? I think I'd prefer them down firing. As far as wood working goes I can build pretty much anything. I'm just not one to reinvent the wheel. I know there're plans out there for a box that will work in my year and model truck I just can't find them. I also know that I'm not the first with this problem and there has to be someone who has already built a box, tried it out and has the dimensions.

Gotcha. Ported generally requires more air space than sealed. Ported will be louder given similar circumstances as sealed (power and number of woofers) but sealed is the SQ'ers enclosure of choice. Again, the only problem with finding a box design for your particular subs if they need to be designed for the space under your seats, the direction of fire, the model of your subwoofer, and enclosure fitment. After work tonight I'll come back to this thread and see if I can find any schematics.
there are most likely plans out there that phattacorider can find for your truck...but every sub has different box because some require more air space than others. do some measuring with the seats down and how you long and wide want your box to be....then go onto a web site like this and play around with the box lengths so you get the right box...
